defence mechanism
Defense mechanisms are one way of protect ourselves from awareness of unpleasant thoughts, feelings and desires. When anxiety occurs, the mind first thinks solutions to forget that situation. If this is not, then a range of defense mechanisms may be triggered. In distorting reality, there is a change, which allows for a lessening of anxiety, with a corresponding reduction in felt tension. Most of the students use defence mechanisms : .For example: A student watches TV instead of studying, saying that "additional study wouldn't do any good anyway." Another example: The student who doesn't complete assignment, must use defense mechanism to protect himself. When i was in undergraduate, i went my cousin's marriage along with my family members.Next day of the marriage i had an exam , but i didn't prepare any thing for exam. My lecturer already told that, any body who got less than 80% would be severly punished. Because of that reason i was decided to took the permission from my lecturer using defnce mechanism. At that time,i said to lecturer, i amn suffering from fever so i want the permission for without writing the exam. This is not truth, but protecting my self i use that one. So almost all students, use defense mechanisms to protect themselves.
